The church is preparing for a refurbishment and extension programme costing in excess of £300,000.
There will be a complete refurbishment of the ground floor rear premises some of which date back to the middle 1800's. This will include:
new disabled access
g new commercial kitchen
g new disabled toilet facilities
g refurbished meeting rooms
g new Ministers Vestry
g additional storage space to the south and east sides of the site
g new lighting, heating, rewiring and plumbing
g new access routes to the building from the rear premises
g extension to the front of the church to enlarge the welcome area and incorporate new catering facilities.
This will bring the church into line with recent new legislation and make the premises fit for purpose in the 21st century. Also this will allow us to continue our work with children, young people, the elderly and disabled. Giving us greater scope to expand our hospitality via our weekly lunch club and to offer up-to-date affordable room hire to small clubs and organisations who meet locally.
The membership has been working hard on its own fundraising events which have been very successful and innovative. The Sittingbourne and Sheerness Circuit has given its full support to the venture by underwriting almost half of the cost, additional funding will be acquired through grant making authorities.
